Communicating social issues and inspiring possible solutions for Westminster’s twenty-year redevelopment plan
Working closely with both council and community, theories around social networking, mapping and social capital were utilised to explore how the redevelopment plan could be more inclusive, progressive and socially diverse.
Mapping out Church Street’s social infrastructure on a platform created using co-design methods and working alongside the cultural, creative, and community focused organisations in the area, the local impact of each organisation was measured.

Various community engagement projects helped to build trust within the community and to collect unique and valuable consultation data used to inform the final masterplan.
The tool was so effective that Westminster City Council claimed it to be ‘the best available method of quantifying social capital in order to inform funding and other planning decisions’.
