RESEARCH TO COMPARE THE PUBLIC AND INDUSTRY’S PERCEPTION OF THE BUILD TO RENT MARKET

With Built to Rent (BTR) being such a hot topic and with developers and operators springing up on what feels like a daily basis; Conductor wanted to understand what the public actually think and know about BTR and how this compares to what the industry thinks they think!

Working with our friends at SAY Property, Conductor asked six identical questions of: 1,000 renters nationwide, passers-by on the streets of London and 80 industry respondents. The results were insightful and showed that the public do have some knowledge of build-to-rent. There is, however, still a long way to go to ensure that purpose built renting is understood and accepted as an attractive option to renting from a private landlord or buying; and that we cannot make any assumptions around what our customers want. We simply must ask them.

Watch our video to see what people on the streets of London said, or get in touch if you would like to discuss our findings and how we intend to build on the research in the future.

Conductor undertook this research with the aim of uncovering what renters really need and want and need. The fact that so many respondents highlighted “a safe and clean building” as their top priority highlights the poor standards of living throughout the UK. We strongly believe that it is our duty to looks for ways in which to deliver decent and affordable homes in the UK.
